Eleni comes to the Alexander Technique by way of deep surrender and trust. Her teaching practice, one less thing, was birthed from this space as a playful reminder of the subtractive nature of our work. Instead of one more thing to learn how to do, the Alexander Technique is a process of un-learning. A practice of un-doing. A means of unleashing the innate system of support built into our physiology just waiting to work with us and for us.
Eleni’s personal Alexander journey began with her BFA actor training at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). She returned to the work years later to address debilitating neck and back pain. Her very first lesson brought immense relief and powerful insight as to the role she’d been playing in her experience with chronic pain and fatigue. She went on to receive her AmSAT certification from the ATTiC here in Chicago and she offers private lessons from her Edgewater studio.
“There is only one way of saying what the work is and what we are doing. We are giving Nature her opportunity. This is a definition allowing for change and growth.” — F.M. Alexander
